Site re-launch

The Historical Directories web site re-launched in July 2004.

The new-and-improved version combines a more intuitive design with better search, browse and print functionality. Online help now encompasses the directory Fact File as well as detailed technical FAQ’s, explaining how to retrieve records. The History Notes section provides extensive background information about directories and highlights their value to historical research.

Preserving the past for Wales

Libraries in Swansea are taking part in a project to preserve a piece of the past.

Head of libraries Peter Gaw said: “This project will be useful to anyone trying to find out about historical information from across the UK. For our own customers it now enables them to view sources online at any library and reduces the wear and tear on the original documents.”
